Trips and Parking Database

All members receive a copy of the latest TDB trips database on CD and are provided with new copies as it is updated. This is the largest database of trips information in New Zealand and Australia.

A brief description of the methodology underlying the trips database is included in a presentation to the Database User Guide. Click here to view the Database User Guide.

Site Survey Summary Sheet

A Site Survey Summary Sheet suitable for use by any organisation is distributed to all members and can be downloaded from the members section of the website at any time. The sheet allows standardised information to be collected for all surveys undertaken by member organisations. It has been designed to be relevant for general survey use as well as for the specific requirements of TDB and members are encouraged to submit completed Site Survey Summary Sheets for inclusion in the TDB Database.

International Collaboration

Strong links have been made with the UK TRICS database that has resulted in complimentary database licences for our members use through our representatives in Auckland, Tauranga, Wellington, Christchurch and Perth. Members can take advantage of the additional information this database provides, TDB is the only licenced TRICS holder in New Zealand and Australia providing a service to members in both countries.

Newsletters

Quarterly newsletters are produced to keep members up to date with the latest initiatives and activites. The newsletter is emailed to all contacts and associates in each member organisation and includes current research and other developments in the area of trip generation or parking information. Click here to view all previous newsletters.

Research

New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) has awarded TDB a grant of $75,000 to conduct research into the Correlation of UK and NZ Trips and Parking Rates. When completed this research will allow members access to a larger pool of data by correlating the UK TRICS database with the TDB database.

All research reports produced by TDB are made available to members. Members have access to all research reports produced by TDB that currently include:

  • Transfund New Zealand Research Report No. 209. Trips and Parking Related to Land Use. Volume 1: Report
  • TDB, UK TRICS, US ITE Database Comparison of Variables Research. TDB
    Research Report 1/2005
  • UK and NZ Trip Rate Correlation Research. NZTPDB Research Report 2/2005
Technical Notes
Members receive technical notes on specified land uses that enable assessment of specific development types more thoroughly. Technical notes are produced periodically; this includes apartment units and notes on other land uses are in preparation. Click here to view all previous technical notes.
Members Website
The members section of this website provides access to all ‘member only’ documents in one location. This includes research reports, technical notes, newsletters and the Site Survey Summary Sheet, all are accessible at the ‘touch of a button’. Each member organisation can have up to five login accounts to the website which is particularly useful for organisations with multiple office locations.

Networking
Networking opportunities exist at the IPENZ Transportation Conference (Workshop & Technical Conference) where the Annual Meeting is held.

Discussion Forums
An email list generated from the members section of this website allows information to be shared easily amongst members. This enables technical discussions to take place between members on trip, parking and associated common interest themes.
